Procrastinating Fuzz Nuggeted Christmas Lights

Oh man, daily blogging isnt coming naturally to me at all... fuzz nuggets of ugh.
Actually, lately my creative motivation, heck, my motivation in general, is pretty stinkin thin.  There are allot of pressures, its true.... thats where I used to pour it all and now, well, not so much.  Its making me feel thin too, of spirit anyway, certainly not physically.  Part of that is to blame on that peanut butter oreos exist.... what a cruelty to allow those on the shelves during bathing suit season!
The ideas are there, I just feel so stifled by external stuffs that the internal colors are staying inside and keeping each other company instead of me.     One of my books on fostering creativity suggest doing a daily gratitude list, theres that daily bit again...
okay for todays 5 grateful for things:
- raspberries are ripe
- there are tomatoes on the plant I planted in my garden for Cassie
- tis the season to get color on my skin which makes me feel better about passing a mirror
- I have fans!  (It's stinkin hot today- 90 right now at 5:12 in Westchester, NY)
- the dogs I get to call mine are awesome!

The fan is probably saving my sanity and anyone trying to interact with me..... it's a flipping sauna out ther

........
and now its

July 23

Today melted with Christmas lights on this hot and humid day....  I was working on my mural, from the inside it seems and lost 2 days and gained so much more.  Since moving to Peekskill 2 1/2 years ago the amout of time I spend in the zone has been minimal, since I started creating to have my own world to live in when the one I was given was less palatable and creative blocks and any form scare me I was not jumping up and down in a happy dance about not being zoned.  As many of you creative peeps know, the more you demand creativity and inspiration to envelope the more evasive that process becomes.....so I put it down for a bit, poutily at first.

This week I have been working on random bits that have been time consuming and quite satisfying along the heat and a desire to keep it moving ...... if feels slow going... it happens like that sometimes.....

since I was have been uber busy tasking I wasnt demanding creativity swallow me up into the zone I miss so much and back in I went into the city scape that I've been whittling onto for a while.  Okay, I'm thinking that metaphor did not quite work since whittling is taking away which doesnt allow for on, tho if I left out two half sentences from the middle to make that it would make sense when they were put back;  ... whittling away and the city project and layered on colors line and characters.... oh yeah, and got to hang Christmas lights in between gardening and moving worms.   It was a full day and I'm looking forward to seeing what else comes togther within my a.d.d. approach to tasking.

PS.... More later

Chewing on My Butt in a Cityscape

Oh wow, there's a blogger app that let's me post from my phone.... YEA!  This
makes it possible to do more frequent/daily blogs.
My head is a little spinny these days with pulling towards goals I'm deciding are possible.  I'm tired some.
Tho it IS summer so projecting outside in the yard is possible....the flower garden is coming along, my first in a while, the lillies
are one of my favorite flowers.... They smell like peace and make me happy.

Again today I brought a section of the city scape mural outside to work on, I'm pretty psyched about its progression
so far
Lots of stuff to keep a.d.d. mostly entertained...
If it gets to be too much maybe ill stop and chew on my butt like Sadie does, probably not tho.
Happy eve to you all.

New Story Etc

The other day* (There is tomorrow, today, yesterday, and the other day....) I went to Neil Gaiman's signing of his new book, 'Ocean at the End of the Lane' at BAM in Brooklyn with my friend Jim and met up with Peter...
Peter reminds me of Tom Waits character in Dracula, Renfield, he was one of my favorite characters.  The jury is still out as to how Peter feels about that comparison, Tom too.  Most people remind me of a combination of other people......along with that everyone seems to have a double or more wandering about on somewhat related planes.
During Neil's talk he spoke of writing novels and that you write what you know woven with lies.  That reminded me of how my mind dove into stories based on the bits around me I found interesting, it also reminded me of the 500 Hats of Bartholomew Winslow by Dr. Suess, and a door that was along the railroad tracks I used to walk at least once a day.....  during being reminded a story started to form in my head and this time I gave my permission to write it down... Here is the into bit:

So Far Untitled by Chelle Mayer  Bit One

The door closed and the world was gone, all that was left of the smell and light from where we just cam was evaporating as was any sense of realness associated to what happened.  We stood hungry, bewildered and disconnected on the tracks.  Sadie looked like she wanted to bark but stood frozen in place seemingly hesitant to move as tho if she did this world would evaporate too, I was afraid it wouldn't....

So that's what I have for you today..... My fingers are crossed that my enthusiasm for this story over rides that I have the attention span of an epileptic humming bird.

Yours, Chelle

Wake Up and See Each Other

We are slaves to our pricey devices.  They come with strings not in even the finest print.  They replace books, theaters and actual human interaction and we pay hundreds of dollars for the privledge of being lead to further transition into robots for the machine.

It seems we need to stop focusing on the anger that comes from technological numbness and slow down to really see each other.
We allow ourselves to rush through process, placated and controlled by our technological toys  and are then surprised when people feel isolated and angry.
Focusing on the anger as the problem, labeling it as metal illness, is a mistake and allows the root of a much greater problem to flourish.
In general, we are not seeing or truly interacting with each other nearly enough and those are needs just as crucial as food, air and water.
If someone did not eat and died we'd say it was from starvation not physical illness.  We are robbing ourselves of the basic need of real human interaction on essential core levels and then medicating and labeling those that react to it with emotional and psychological hunger.  We are watching each other whither of starvation and all we need is humanity. love and non-franken food to thrive....
Will we rise to that occasion or turn into a business that thrives on apathy?

Painting and Organizing and Online

So how to manage the plethora of social networking sights there are, not believe that it is actually socializing and still create and finish projects that make me say, 'hey, I like that!' when I am done.

Looking around my studio it is not hard to see that a.d.d. rules the roost.   Thankfully I have recently been exposed to a few studios that were so organized I was inspired to follow suit.

It actually is nice to find something when I am looking for it.  In the midst of that, walking it the fall colors with my furry besties and playing with comfort foods to ward off the cold I have been painting hats, clothes and wood.  Hats are a favorite of mine to paint...
These two I posted on Etsy yesterday http://www.etsy.com/shop/ShadesofCookie   ... The black one has sold :) :) :)

It still feels like I am spending more and more time in front of my computer with all the networking sights and net flix..... in many ways it is  similar to having a t.v. in regards to distracting me from art and productivity.  There hasnt been a t.v. in my home for yeeeears for that reason... getting rid of my computer to avoid an over abundance of distractions doesnt seem practical....  Okay so I will be working on orgazining my time and my studio....... and  enjoying the fall with my furries.

How do ya'all balance your online time wtih everything in the here and now that you want to do???

My Rainy, Bouncy Tuesday

Oh so many projects and so little time... I seems to be bouncing back and forth on a dozen or so today.   Furry Cookie says to work on one piece at a time... whelp, he is not as bouncy, which is how I move through most of my days....aaaaand he leaves his favorite cookies in the cubbard for weeks eating one at a time.  ....If my favorite junk food is in the house it either just got there or I didnt know about it... inhaling  entire contents generally takes 15-30 minutes depending on various factors.
Actually, it doesnt have to be my favorite.... just there..

......a couple of projects that have my attention today are a character from buttons and various found bits that may be becoming a fish and my coat that I split to increase the swing and have not finishing sewing in the triangles... its getting cold out there so mother nature does not seem as though she is going to wait for me to finish so I am aiming to have that be one of the pieces I finish today......

September 18, 2012 - Introducing Doonie

I havent blogged in what feels like way too long.... last time I did I got frustrated because the text and photos were doing weird self edits.  After an hour and a half or so I swore, went outside and missed blogging and have not since.... I do so miss it....

This recycling from the piles in my studio/apartment into characters and stuff has me excited-er which gave me something new I was busting to share and stuff....
These characters feel like they would/ will :) fit well into a Tim Burton film... perhaps I can get them an audition when they are formed and have more life to em.... which is such a great process, usually I dont know what and who they will be when .I start.
   Here is Doonie.
Her beginnings- a tuna can, brass locket, wee toy construction cone I found on a walk,... Mrs. Potato Head (one of my favorite childhood toys) and some Apoxie

sculpt.  If you have not yet work with that sculpting medium....  I highly recommend trying it!  It has three hours of working time with varying stages of hardness

She still needs allot of work... I am excited to see where she goes.....

it's rainy today so its organizing inside today and outside in the sun tomorrow to work on her body.

What are you working on today?
