Life on a Page

Hello and top of the day to you!  I have been journaling, much of it in the spirit of it in the spirit of Lynda Barry.... I mean to post it, it is an enigma what happens to time that it has been 10 days (and yes that number gets bigger with each edit.
Its cold, erratic weather, gets dark and 430 and its hard to bounce around with colorful energy .
Ive been communiting mostly by train with the girls.  I like the smattering of people I meet especially on the later trains.

I miss living in the city, I do like walking cleaner streets offered in Tarrytown and the surrounding neighborhhods, I love the architecture, Tapanzee, river path....
The tree now lives in the bedroom in a new pot.  Most of the leaves have fallen off but the twiiggy branches are still alive so I know she's still alive.  Im so looking forward to budding leaves in the spring.  I am loving creating, cocooning and hanging with my girls.

With the cold I have been finding comfort in foods from my childhood hood that I made with Papa like Toadstools.... .

Getting back into sewing, mostly because I am out of stuff to wear and have piles to thin out.... I like it too.... Next time I'll show you what I am building from clothes I dont wear anymore....

Btw, this is a repost because I had the blog open on a couple of devices and accidentally saved it in an earlier draft form on the ipad and poof it was gone....:( will make sure not to do that again...

How 'bout y'all, what are you doing to pass the winter months?

I'm going to go futz with piles..

The weather has been nuts n is making people the same I think.....I needed out of the studio so decided to go for dinner with Warren instead of permitting... We ate a a Mediterranean spot in mid town, Pera, recommended by a sales lady at Erwin Pearl ( the sparkly bits in there are eye yummies!) .... The food was sooooooo good!! Wine too!

Snow,Doodles, Procrastination and Dr. Who

Yesterday was a snowy...6/7 inches I think...
Warren had the day off and the girls stayed with him and we both worked in our separate corners/towns.
I super totally adore my furry girls and cant imagine life without them, still it is nice to project though in a zone as I used to without breaking to feed, play, walk with them and occasionally remove them from my projects.
The apartment was empty without them and I didnt leave it all day... not even to market which meant I ended up eating a frozen mini pizza purchased when I was shopping while hungry that I heated up in a skillet on the stove top.
The solitude produced the final edits on a cartoon I did for this blog post which comments on draconian policies in the system.

Organizing my apartment/studio, drawing uses for clothing from the 'I will make something out of someday' pile resulted in some cool drawings of to be dresses in my sketchbook.  (can I say my own work is cool?)
I drew a cartoony drawing while watching an episode of the first season of the new Dr. Who which is on Netflix lifestream that I have here.
And I made a task list for today so I dont spin around un sure of what to do first, tangling it up in my head so much it makes me tired before I task.... nope not doing that, today is going to be an awesomely non pingy day.

Its cold out and a bit nippy in too, I'm off to stuff some more raw wool in the cracks around my window and plastic it so I dont shiver while sewing.....  yes I know its already January and it shouldve been done already - procrastination is my sidekick that is not furry, maybe it is.... combined with my a.d.d attention span I get stuff done in a very pin ball fashion.... hey whatever accomplishes 'get er done', ya?  Some interesting art has come from my side tracking

Short, sleepy n sweet

It's cold out and dumping flying snow so I'm inside huddled within my mess I need to organize and create with

I feel like days aren't supposed to end and I am meant to work on something 24/7.... Tho if I figured how to do that I'd want to cram more minutes in.... Off to sleep

Taffeta, Blue, Brrrr and Goodnight

My dresss is taffeta sky... I love how the colors took!
The dress is an old wedding dress I got for $10 at the thrift store, it was long, tackey and I loved it.  This makes it the perfect canvas! It's easier to come up with flowing idea without the pressure of costly materials....
So far I've jaggedly cut off the stained bottom soaked it in a bath of blue dye, rinsed thoroughly, the, in a bath of purple...  I bunched up the fabric first creating the organic, mottled effect and the sequins and beads did not take any dye while the lace took extra....
There's a bit more work to be done then to wear this crazy bit I've got the awesomest shoes picked out.
Projects are going well, wish organizing was too.....

Btw I finally watch an episode of Twin Peaks... It was good, not sure I agree with the hype, it's on netflix live stream so I'll likely periodically binge watch through and see what all the oo-ing was in the 90s...

It's cold out and I'm tired
Off to be warm and sleep
